Gulmarg

On last penultimate day we reached Gulmarg in the afternoon from Pahalgam. People visit this place to experience the snow and the highest altitude Gondola ride.
More details of this at  http://gulmarggondola.com/
We stayed at Hilltop and had the most fantastic view from the window the very next morning.

I would like to caution the visitors about the guides and other vendors here. All prices are given by Govt but seldom followed. The water proof coat and boots cost Rs.60 but vendors sweet talk you to take the coat and boot pair for Rs.200 to 400 depending upon your gullibility. Gloves its better you purchase in Srinagar itself and UV goggles. These hawkers and guides are everywhere like crows and persue you to irritation.
Sometimes if it snows heavily one needs to hire jeeps with chains on the wheel for a short distance to reach Gulmarg.
Again in Gulmarg, you will be hounded by sleigh vendors, ski and scooters etc for fancy rides at fancy prices, which are overpriced.
We did not hire any guide, but just took a ride to first phase and came down and enjoyed the snow. Senior citizens should beware of slipping and hurting themselves.
